Three Elements of a Noble Calling

There are three elements to a Noble Calling:

  • God’s Design
  • Our Life Purpose
  • The Needs of Others

God’s Design

How has God uniquely and sovereignly designed you?
The first function of a Noble Leader is to do the research to understand God’s Design. As a person, this design has to do with the Ten Unchangeables of our life. Carefully review each one of these unchangeables and ask God “How has this prepared and equipped me for Your divine purpose, for the good works you have ordained for me to do to advance your kingdom on the earth?”

  1. Parents
  2. Time in history
  3. Gender
  4. Birth Order
  5. Brothers & Sisters
  6. Racial Background
  7. National Heritage
  8. Physical Features
  9. Mental Abilities
  10. Aging and Death

Our Life Purpose

Our life purpose becomes clear as we love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 2:9 “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”

When we ask the right questions our eyes can be opened to discovering how God has been working in us to will and to do His good pleasure. (See Philippians 2:13) Here is a list of questions that can provide some insight into God’s purposes for your life.

Heart – God’s Leading

  • What Rhema verses has God given you?
A rhema verse refers to the greek word for “word” in the New Testament. It refers to the written word being spoken to our hearts. A rhema verse would be a verse that leaps off the pages of scripture as we are reading and it seems the Holy Spirit is speaking it to our hearts.

Soul – God’s Pleasure

  • When do you experience God’s Pleasure? (See Phil. 2:13, Hebrews 13:21)
  • I want to be a cause to help who inherit what ? (See Duet. 31:7)
  • What would you like to cause to happen if you knew you could not fail and God would be with you?

Mind – God’s Wisdom

  • What does God do through me with excellence in His service?
  • What common things has God equipped me to do uncommonly well?

Strength – God’s Power

  • I would like God to show Himself strong through me by strengthening others and His kingdom by doing __________. (See II Chronicles 16:9)

Needs of Others

We often find our Noble Calling when we see a need that we feel compelled to meet. Jesus came to serve, to give of Himself willingly and generously. This is what Noble means, to willingly and generously offer myself in service unto God and others. When we see a need and feel compelled out of love to meet it we can be assured that this is God’s Spirit working in us mightily to fulfill our Calling in Christ Jesus.

  • What are the spiritual needs of those around us that compel us to action?
Paul talked about his calling in Colossians 1:28-29 “Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.”
  • What are the emotional and mental needs of the people God has put into our lives?
  • What are the physical needs that God has blessed us to meet in the lives of others? A glass of water given in His name is as if we are doing it on to Jesus.
