A Noble Woman's Prayer, by Anne Hogan
This is a prayer my wife wrote and uses to pray for herself and for wives of husbands I am working with. It is mostly due to God moving through Anne and her manner of life and conversation that I have become a noble man in Christ Jesus. She was able to intercede first for her own life and then for mine and our children. She showed me what a noble life was about, one of coming, calling and clothing others with the love of God. It is through Anne’s chaste and godly example, her intercession, and her willingness to always look at her own responsibility before God that has led the way for me to mature in Christ Jesus as a noble man.
A Noble Woman’s Prayer as a Wife and Mother
O God, I cry out to you, Abba Father! I come before Your Throne of Grace in time of need through the Blood of the Lamb. I need you desperately, O God, to come through for me. Put to death the old man with His deeds, that Christ in me with His deeds of righteousness and kindness might live!
Your word says in Jeremiah, “my heart is desperately wicked, who can know it,” and with that I humbly agree. O God, forgive and cleanse me from pride, self-centeredness, bitterness, anger, malice, lust. I have been disrespectful to my husband, unloving, demanding, controlling, short tempered, unreasonable, and unforgiving. I struggle with unkind , disrespectful thoughts and words towards him, and have even been guilty of evil, malicious and revengeful behavior.
Father God, I long to be loving, kind, gracious, and full of encouraging thoughts and words towards my husband. To forgive him, to cover him with Your unconditional love and respect, and to praise him for his achievements. To bless him and intercede for him where he is weak and needs Your strength to shine through.
Please forgive and cleanse me from these evil ways. Set me free to love, respect, and fully honor my husband the way that You would have me to honor him.
By faith I now plead the Blood of Jesus over myself, my marriage and children. I cut off all word curses and generational propensities to sin in these ways. I say no weapon formed against me or my children or the generations to come through our family shall prosper. Forgive me and cleanse me from the sins I have committed against my husband, children, and You by not honoring my husband.
By Your love, power, and the supernatural discipline of Christ in me, may I walk circumspectly in the fear of the Lord to be the very best wife and help meet for my husband! Give me grace to receive grace to take captive every thought to the obedience of Christ as a godly wife. Put a guard on my mouth. May Your words of blessing and life be on my lips for my husband.
May my husband be honored and encouraged by Your faithful, humble ministry to him, through me, day by day. Set me free to be the help meet You’ve called me to be so he can be the man – husband, father, provider, leader, teacher, protector, warrior, and minister of the gospel that You have called him to be. By Your grace, and for Your glory. In Jesus’ Name. Amen and Amen! Hallelujah!
Anne is able to pray this because she knows the balance of truth, she knows her noble identity: Christ in her the hope of glory. The following is a noble identity statement Anne has written out for herself and I use it to speak a blessing upon her.
Anne, through the blood and power of Christ Jesus, you are intimate with the Lord, a woman of the Word, a living fragrance of grace. His pure, spotless Bride walking in boldness and humility, speaking the truth in love and in the demonstration and power of the Holy Spirit, turning hearts to God. You are an effective intercessor and over comer, not being terrified by anything, strong and courageous. You are virtuous and well able. Your children rise up and call you blessed, and I also praises you. You have made me known in the gates!
Anne, in Christ you are prompt, skilled and ready. You are well prepared and organized to forcefully advance the kingdom of God, fulfilling the plans God has for your life and setting others free to fulfill the plans and purpose of God for their lives. By His grace and for His glory all the families of the earth shall be blessed as you inherit the promises of God by faith, patience, and obedience.
