Making Your Home a Ministry Center
A home is developed into a ministry center when parents become intentional about recovering God’s purposes for the most relevant environment in the world – the home. Men go to war to fight for hearth and home, but sadly, many nations perish when the vision of the home is lost. When people observe righteousness, peace, and the joy of God’s kingdom in their home, they discover answers for which they longed and a hope for the future.
In the twenty-first century of America, the home has been degraded into a center for sleeping, entertaining, and snacking. We have alowed it to be a center for slothfulness or we have made it a showpiece.
God designed the home to be the heart of ministry. The content on this section of the website will center around the five areas of the home so we can become intentional about reclaiming a vision for God’s purposes. Within the five areas of the home there are two levels of focus, a basic and an advanced. The basic level hones in on things you can do in your home in order to bless your family, making it a safe environment that is filled with righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. The advanced level focuses on making your home a ministry center, both to your community and the families God brings into your life. Paul talks about the household of Stephanas who refreshed him through the minsitry in their home. He stated that they addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints by opening their home to others. (See 1 Corinthians 16)
The five areas of the home are:
- Worship Center
- Learning Center
- Health Center
- Hospitality Center
- Productivity Center
We look forward to the hearing about the best practices you have used in making your home into a ministry center. Please forward your ideas, articles and best practices to Lydia Collin, at lcollin@iblp.org.
